The Majicanth

Prymec is a world full of unexplainable phenomena, and one of the most notable of these is known as Mana Fog. An ever present threat to the average person of the realm, Mana Fog is the most common manner in which a human becomes altered by magical forces on Prymec. Other methods are scientific experimentation, genetic lineage, or encounters with various mutated beasts in the wilderness. People who undergo such an alteration are thenceforth known as Majicanth. While Majicanth are effectively still humans at a base level, mutations they experience range from mild to extreme, and fundamentally and functionally reshape them in physical form as well as ability. Three categories of Majicanth exist, each with their own specification to identify them, born of human prejudices and preferences.

Origin Majicanth

Filigree Majicanth

The variety of traits a person can end up with after mutating and joining the Majicanth caste is vast, though not so for those of the Filigree category. Individuals who experience mutation and end up with traits that are seen as attractive or ‘inoffensive’ to the average person are classified in this group. Filigree Majicanth are rarely impacted socially, and even sometimes encounter benefits in such, by their limited levels of mutation or the way their appearance was altered. Classification almost never depends on the positive benefits or negative hindrances any mutations cause for the affected person, but unfortunately rely almost entirely on their physical qualities, proving how shallow humanity can be in many cases. Potential physical mutation traits for a Filigree Majicanth could include, but are not limited to:

  • Elven-like ears
  • Prominent canine teeth reminiscent of vampires in folklore
  • Abnormal colored, or glowing irises of the eyes
  • Single, aesthetically pleasing tails, be they covered in fur or not
  • Abnormal hair colors for natural born humans
  • Inoffensive body odor
  • Attractive changes to the voice
  • Specific instances of abnormal bone growth (Such as a limited array of horns or other bony protrusions, depending on location on the body and shape)

  • Additional or “ugly” appendages (Extra arms or legs, multiple tails, any abnormally proportioned or placed appendages, etc)
  • Excessive quantities of horns, spines or bone protrusions.
  • Any form of “fiendish” traits (Split tongues, ‘evil’ looking eyes, etc)
  • Formation of large claws on hands, and claws or hooves on feet.
  • Abnormal skin coloration, either as a whole or if patterned.
  • Offensive body odor or changes to the voice.
  • Anything non-mammalian (Scales or feathers on the body, plant-like traits or appendages, etc)
  • Any sort of harmful passive effect (Excessive body heat that hurts others, emission of radiation, corrosive perspiration, etc)
